Salama Avy Madagasikara! Hi from Madagascar, friends! I'm happy to say #TeamMada has made it and are getting situated in our beautiful home for the next year! We arrived Thursday morning at about midnight after 20 hours of flights from Chicago to Detroit, Detroit to Paris and then Paris to Antananarivo. We spent the next two nights at a Lutheran compound in Tana, where we had some time to see the city as well as getting some paperwork and longterm visa information in order.
On Saturday, we drove about three hours to our home for the rest of orientation, Antsirabe. I slept for pretty much the entire length of the journey, though I did get see some beautiful sunset views for a few moments. For the next three weeks we will be living at the Norwegian Mission Society (just like home, right?) and studying Malagasy. As of today, we're a few sessions in and while it's going quickly, it's definitely going well. Highlights so far have been 3 hour Malagasy church on Sunday, tons of rice and our Malagas teacher, Nina.
That's all for now!
