"I have loved you with an everlasting love, therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you." Jeremiah 31:3
I'm sitting here beaming, nearly crying, so filled and happy I can barely stand it. Today I got my placement site for my year in Madagascar and for once in this process I am only feeling one emotion: excitement. During my breaks at camp I've been checking my email incessantly for the past few weeks, hoping that THE email would come and now I can finally breathe a sigh of relief.
So for everyone who's asked, here's what I'll be doing for the next year!
Differently abled ministries, Women’s Ministries, English Teaching
Britta will have a small apartment of the Synod. Here she will be able to cook for herself probably half the time and eat with your host family, the Synod President and his lovely wife.
Her primary site will be the Deaf school. It is a primary school. The director of the school is Diamondra, a super bubbly woman. Britta will be able to teach English, play with the kids, pick up some Malagasy sign language and eat some meals with the kids.
The church in town is connected to the Synod offices and the formation school for lay biblical studies. The church is fairly large and busy. The church, pastors and school are all be open to English clubs and classes. A schedule of English classes will get arranged with the Synod President.
Britta will also be able to join the FBL, which is the women’s ministry group, teaching English and/or just being part of their work and ministry.
Lastly, there is a SALFA Clinic (Health Ministry of the Malagasy Lutheran Church) in Antsiranana where Britta can lend a hand.
There are very few moments in my life where I feel completely content with the path I'm on. Today is one of them. I could not be more excited for what is to come, for who I am going to meet, for what I'll be doing and the ways in which Christ will surely reveal himself in Antsiranana.
Thank you all once again.
